Who "owns" Stonehenge? It's a World Heritage Site and of particular cultural significance to both France and the UK. Similar sites exist in northern France. For the French kids, this site has direct links to their national history and culture. An Englishman though would regard Stonehenge as quintessentially British, perhaps even English.

Thank God the stones are heavy. Otherwise those kids would have had the 'henge loaded on the bus along with the rest of their loot. (Some of them were caught shoplifting in the Stonehenge souvenir shop.)
