The illustration is of a commerative tablet at the Australian War Memorial. The red poppies were spontaneously placed beside the names on the tablet. The original intention in selling the poppies was that they would be worn by the visitors to the Memorial or placed on the tomb of the unknown soldier. However as a spontaneous gesture they were placed beside the names of relatives. See explanation.
